Mysterious Sleeping Beauty illness hits Soviet village - residents collapse where they stand and sleep for days on end

Scientists are unclear what is causing the mysterious Sleeping Beauty sleep syndrome that has affected dozens of villagers in the Kalachi village and nearby Soviet town of Krasnogorsk. Beginning in the spring of 2013, Villagers began seeking medical help for fatigue, weakness, drowsiness, loss of coordination, partial memory loss, and occasionally even hallucinations. By January 2014, patients were dozing off, collapsing where they stood, and remaining asleep for several days straight.

OJ Simpson innocent? Was Nicole Brown Simpson murdered by Jason Simpson, OJ's son?

An exhaustive new book suggests that O.J. may indeed be innocent for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. In the book, Dear suggests that the real murder is O.J. Simpson’s son, Jason Simpson. Dear proposes that O.J. did visit the crime scene shortly after the two victims were murdered but rather than committing the crimes himself, merely initiated a series of actions to help cover up the crime and protect his son. An interesting theory – but does it merit consideration?

Watch as this whale surfaces for food nearly swallowing the photographer (video)

It’s not every day that you get to see a whale coming up to feed on a massive glob of sardines and an even rarer day when you get to see a whale nearly swallow a man. In the video below, a diver, we’ll call him “Jonah”, was filming the whale as the giant beast rose to feed on a huge school of sardines during the annual sardine run, from May through June when millions of sardines travel north along the South African coastline to reproduce. “Jonah” saw the whale coming up and knew he was a goner.

Jupiter's Great Red Spot is shrinking faster than ever before

In any other circumstance, a huge, red, festering blemish would be a bad thing but not for the planet Jupiter. Jupiter’s Great Red Spot has been a defining characteristic since man began looking at the stars through bamboo shoots. But that may be about to change. NASA says that Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is shrinking in size faster than ever and could disappear altogether within 20 years.

Rising global temperatures is turning all the sea turtles into girls

Scientists have always known that reptiles, such as frogs, lizards, and turtles, are very sensitive to temperatures of the area that they live in. In fact, temperatures affect reptiles before they are even born and help determine whether the baby reptile will be born a boy or a girl. 84 degrees F is the preferred temperature for reptiles and if it gets hotter than that, the babies begin to be born as girls. At around 87 degrees F, all baby reptiles will be born girls (any hotter and they die altogether).

Record breaker - researchers discover world's largest dinosaur in Argentina

Scientists have been digging at the site for over three years now and have finally hit pay dirt (pay dirt… digging… get it? I’ll show myself out now…). Researchers have unearthed what they believe is the largest dinosaur ever and the biggest animal ever known to have walked the earth. The creature is estimated to weigh almost 80 tons (as much as 14 elephants) and stand over 65 feet tall (that’s almost as tall as a seven-story building). From its head to the tip of its tail measures 130 feet – about half the length of a football field!

It's not a UFO - wind gust blows bounce house (with three kids inside) more than 100 feet into the air

Three upstate New York children were inside a bounce house Monday afternoon when a gust of wind launched the house high into the air. Horrified witnesses say the bounce house rose 50-feet into the air but photographs of the incident suggest the playhouse rose at least a 100-foot into the sky and possibly much higher. The three youngsters were seriously injured when they were dumped from the house while it was rising into the air.

Zodiac serial killer terrorizes norther California

The murder spree initiated by a man known only as The Zodiac, has to be one of the most intriguing criminal mysteries the United State has ever experienced. No one is sure exactly when it began nor do we know when it will end. All we do know is that for over 22 years, someone has managed to outwit the California authorities all the while taunting, goading, and ridiculing the police while he maintained his cycle of viscous killings, often within sight of the authorities that sought him.

Why have more than a dozen human feet washed up on the shores of the Pacific Northwest?

Since 2007, an average of two human feet per year have washed up on a 125-mile of shorefront along the Pacific Northwest.

It rained fish in Sri Lanka - villagers collect thousands of fish that fell from the sky

Villagers in a west Sri Lanka scooped up buckets and buckets full of fish after thousands of the squirming little critters rained down on the village of Chilaw on May 6, 2014. Villagers said they heard something heavy on the roofs of their homes and since it wasn’t the night before Christmas, ran outside to see what was the matter. They tore open their doors and on the way out, grabbed buckets that they had hanging on their porches (with care) and began to scoop up as many of the tasty fish as they could. It rained fish once before in Sri Lanka – back in 2012.

Rare (and super ugly) goblin shark caught in Florida

When shrimp captain Carl Moore caught it, he didn’t know what it was – and looking like a creature from the movie “Alien”, he refused to go near it. Luckily, he snapped a few photos before tossing the ugly Goblin shark back into the water so it could resume its primary objective of confusing scientists and terrorizing fishermen throughout the world.

Yay, vampires are real! Wait, OMG, vampires are real!

Uh oh, this can’t be good. Two different sets of scientists released some pretty amazing news on Sunday. Seems that transfusing the blood of a young mouse into an old mouse can improve the old mouse’s mental and physical capabilities. In other words, the scientists reversed aging in the muscles and brains of old mice simply by running the blood of young mice through their veins. Yes, vampires have had it right all along.

Vampirism is real - scientists prove vampire therapy (blood infusion) reduces aging and improves physical health

Uh oh, this can’t be good. Separate research results, published in Science and Nature Medicine on Sunday, revealed the same conclusion – transfusing the blood of a young mouse into an old mouse can improve their cognitive and physical capabilities significantly. In other words, scientists reversed aging in the muscles and brains of old mice simply by running the blood of young mice through their veins. This is going to be a bonanza for vampires.

Neanderthals may not be as duh, duh, dumb as we thought

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about a Neanderthal? Most think of a slow, dimwitted, grunting gorilla-like person who allowed themselves to die out and become extinct at the hands of the much smarter breed of modern-day humans. But scientists at the University of Colorado Boulder have come to the defense of the Neanderthal and think our notion of stupid Neanderthals is, well, pretty dumb. They say there is really no scientific evidence to support such a belief.

Yonkers, New York residents and city officials were horrified to find the bodies of at least two dozen dead cats hung from a tree near Overlook Terrace. The cats, some of which were badly decomposed and hanging from tree limbs in black bags, were found by public works employees cleaning up trash in an abandoned lot in Yonkers, New York. The skull of each cat had been crushed before the body was placed in a plastic bag and tied to branches of the tree like ornaments. Investigators are searching for the cat slayer who they fear may be taking part in some sort of sick ritual.

Remote island becomes self-sufficient using wind turbines and a giant lake-sized battery

Life can be inconvenient living on a tiny island out in the middle of the ocean. Sometimes you have to do without modern-day conveniences such as electricity. But not residents of the El Hierro island, located just off the coast of Spain. Islanders on El Hierro are completing an ingenious means of generating electricity using wind and a huge “battery” the size of a lake.
